Rider entry

Riders must use a cargo bike or a bike and trailer. Pedal power categories are a real leg burner. E-assist riders will also be asked to demonstrate how they’d keep a battery charged if the national grid went down.

The challenge

There are five checkpoints in total, including the start and finish, which can be visited in any order. Riders will move 50kg of cargo overall, making strategy key.

Checkpoints and cargo details are revealed on the day. Riders receive a laminated map with full instructions one hour before the main event begins.

This year there's a small fee to which will be used to feed the amazing volunteers

The Disaster Relief Trials are a practical, community led challenge exploring how cargo bikes can support real world responses when systems are disrupted.

Riders take part in a fictional disaster scenario that tests navigation, problem solving and decision making, as well as physical effort. No phones. No GPS. Just you, your bike and the task at hand.
